Extraction Day - July 27 - Edgerton Park Carriage House

You're invited to CBA's inaugural Extraction Day event on July 27th - FREE to all backyard beekeepers

CBA is excited to invite local backyard beekeepers to our inaugural Extraction Day event at the Carriage House in Edgerton Park in Hamden. You bring clean supers of capped honey (2 per person), and we'll provide extractors, hot knives, and capping tanks. It's a unique opportunity to learn about the honey extraction process hands-on from experienced beekeepers.

What you bring:

  • Full clean supers of capped honey without any brood or bees - maximum two per person

  • "Clean" means not dripping honey

  • A clean bucket and secure lid to collect your extracted honey

  • A clean bucket to collect your wax caps (if you want to keep them)

  • Large garbage bags for the wet extracted supers

What we provide:

  • Extractors

  • Hot knives to remove the wax caps

  • Capping tanks

Other considerations:

Food - If you'd like to stay for the entire event, please bring your own lunch. CBA will provide snacks and cold beverages, and you're welcome to bring a non-perishable snack to share.

Parking - Not allowed within Edgerton Park. On-street parking is available outside the park entrance.
